Wood Textures

My brother in law is celebrating his birthday today.  I am loving the Wood Textures DSP for "man" cards.  The card also uses a little piece from the retired Serene Scenery DSP stack and some stars die cut from the long retired thin wood Stampin' Up! used to have.

This card is CASEd from one I saw on Pinterest.  You can see it HERE.

Happy 50th Anniversary George and Louise

My brother in law and sister in law are celebrating a milestone wedding anniversary today - 50 years.

I wasn't sure what I wanted to do for their card - I have been thinking about it for months - but one morning it came together.  I pulled out my Gold Foil card stock and found a piece of vellum with gold hearts so pulled that out as well.

The large flourish from the Flourishing Phrases was perfect as an accent behind the focal piece.  I used that flourish on the envelope as well.  Overall I am really happy with the card.  I wish the photo showed how pretty it is in person.

Inky Divas Challenge - Week of August 21

This week's challenge was to create a Thank You themed card.  In addition, we had to use a bleaching technique for the project.

I headed directly to Pinterest and when I searched for bleaching techniques I got a number of results but settled on the one in this video by Debbie Henderson.  My card is pretty much a direct copy of hers although I did add a layer of Basic Black between the Crumb Cake and Daffodil Delight layers.

After taking the photo I added small rhinestones to the centres of the three larger flowers.

Paper Pumpkin August 2017

The August 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit is awesome!  There are supplies to make 8 cards and included in the kit is a gift box to package them in.  The stamp set includes a Sympathy sentiment but some of the pre-printed die cuts have sentiments already printed on them - Thanks and Congrats.

These are the stamps included in the set.

The kit includes a Night of Navy Ink Spot.

The card below follows the layout for one of the cards in the kit but I used one of my own stamps for the sentiment - Stylised Birthday.  I stamped it on Whisper White card stock and then die cut it using one of the Layering Ovals dies.  I also added a few rhinestones.

Baby Shower Card

Yesterday was the baby shower for my grand niece.  This is the card I made to go with the car seat/stroller that we gave her (my mother, myself and my three sisters).  I saw the idea for the card on Pinterest and really liked the colour combination of Crushed Curry and Smoky Slate.  The little elephant was printed using the My Memories Digital program and the ear was punched out using a retired Stampin' Up! oval punch.  The background paper is from the retired A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper.

The shower was also a reveal party so now we know that the baby is a boy.

Carols of Christmas

The Carols of Christmas stamp set and the coordinating Card Front Builder dies are so very versatile.  I have been making quite a few cards using the set but this is one of my favourites.  The "moon scene" was creating using one of the dies in the set.  You can see the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper peeking through.  The trees and little deer were also cut using that same set of dies.

I used another set of dies to cut the "snow bank".  For that I used the branch from the Seasonal Layers Thinlit dies to make an edge on some Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  The trees were cut from one of the patterns in the Colour Theory DSP stack.

Merry Mistletoe

I saw THIS card on Diana Gibb's blog and was happy to see one of the patterns from the Wood Textures DSP stack being used.  I had been struggling with how I could use that particular pattern.

I used a different background paper on my card - it is from last year's Warmth & Cheer DSP stack. The greeting is from the long retired Contempo Christmas stamp set.

My Paper Pumpkin - July 2017

I decided to use some of the elements from the July 2017 Paper Pumpkin to make a Christmas Card

I used one of the Soft Sky card bases, the card front is also from the kit.  I ran that through the Big Shot using the Softly Falling embossing folder.  I followed the kit instructions for creating the card but I added some glitter glue sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds glitter to add some snow to the scene.  As a final touch I added a little wooden snowflake element from my stash of retired embellishments.  I brushed Wink of Stella over that and added a small rhinestone to the centre.

Inky Divas Challenge - Week of July 24

When I saw Jackie Topa's Sympathy card using the Daisy Delight stamp set and Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper I knew I wanted to use that as a second card for the Inky Divas Challenge for the week of July 24.  You can see Jackie's card HERE.

As I was looking at the card I thought it could also be used for other occasions.  I needed an anniversary card so decided to give that a try.  I made a few small changes to Jackie's sample - I stamped the daisies on Whisper White card stock and changed the position of the sentiment layer.

I ended up making two of the anniversary cards - one of them for my parents (see yesterday's post)

Inky Divas Challenge - Week of July 31

This week's challenge was to use one of the Stampin' Up! bundles and one of the current InColours.

I ended up doing two cards.  Both use Berry Burst and Lemon Twist (InColours 2017-2019) as well as the Daisy Delight stamp set and coordinating Daisy Punch.

I decided to play with the Stampin' Up! Embossing Paste and Pattern Party Decorative Masks for this card.  I only bought the InColour Markers so I tinted the embossing paste with a tiny drop of Pear Pizzazz reinker.  I inked the stamps (both the daisy and the sentiment) using a marker.  After stamping the daisies I used a blender pen to bring a bit of colour to the petals.  A couple of die cut leaves and some glitter enamel dots and the card was done.

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps - Daisy Delight, Rose Wonder
Ink - Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist markers, Pear Pizzazz reinker
Card Stock - Whisper White, Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist
Other - Daisy Punch, Glitter Enamel Dots, Embossing Paste, Pattern Party Decorative Mask, Rose Garden Thinlits, Stampin' Dimensionals

This card was pretty quick to put together.  I used two strips of DSP from the Colour Theory DSP stack.  The crackle pattern is on the reverse side of the striped paper.

Merry Mistletoe

Monica Gale - a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator in the UK - posted a couple of card kits she is making available.  Unfortunately they can only be ordered by people in the UK.  Her kits feature the Merry Mistletoe stamp set available in the annual catalogue (page 113).  You can see her cards HERE.  I really liked the card with the three reindeer and decided to try it out.

My a card is pretty much a hybrid of both of Monica's versions.  On her "stepped up" version, Monica fussy cut the reindeer.  I am not a fan of fussy cutting so I just stamped the three images onto the Whisper White card stock  If you look closely you can see a little bit of glimmer on the antlers - I used the Gold Wink of Stella (retired) to highlight them.
